Floodlights over a non-league pitch at night, supporters along the touchline

Our story

I grew up on non-league football. The shouts carrying off the pitch. Fried onions from the burger van behind the goal. Home and away supporters stood together with no fence between them, the way it has always been at this level.

University took me out of my hometown. For a few years I followed the Premier League club in the city I had moved to. Better football, no argument. But in a crowd of fifty thousand you do not feel as important. At a non-league ground you are one of a few. The club can feel it when you turn up.

So I found non-league again in my new hometown. A new club, the same size of crowd, the same kind of afternoon. Plenty of people there from a similar route — some stepping away from the elite game, some just looking for a second club to get behind.

Up and down the country that passion is growing. Clubs with supporters who care about them out of all proportion to the level they play at — with almost nothing to show it with.

That is what Turnstile is for: clothing that represents non-league supporters, giving them a choice. Something that shows your pride, what your club actually means, without a manufacturer's logo slapped across the chest or being printed on the cheapest material going. Turnstile is about quality materials, with printing that goes into the fabric rather than sitting on top of it, proper embroidery where a design earns it, every piece made to order in the UK. Something to wear proudly any day of the week, anywhere — as well as on the terraces on a Saturday.

What we stand for

Supporters watching from behind the barrier, floodlit pitch beyond
  • Made by fans, for fans

Every design starts with someone who goes. What it says comes from what means something at a club — an icon, a moment, a mascot, the name of a stand, the year it started.

  • Non-League to the Core

Understated on purpose, because this is not matchday kit and it is not a souvenir. It belongs on a terrace and works just as well in the pub afterwards, or on a Tuesday with no football anywhere near it.

  • Quality first

Premium organic cotton. Printing that goes into the fabric rather than sitting on top of it, and proper embroidery where a design earns it.

  • Made to order in the UK

Nothing mass-produced and nothing thrown away. Every shirt is printed or stitched once somebody has asked for it.
